Macromedia Contribute 3 is the last version of Contribute to be released under the Macromedia name. It was also packaged as part of Macromedia Studio 8 and Adobe Web Bundle.[1]
Product history[]
Contribute 3 was released in July 2004. It included Macromedia FlashPaper 2 and support for the WebDAV protocol and Contribute Publishing Services (CPS), an optional server component for central management of users and site connections while tracking site-wide publishing activities.
Contribute 3.1 was released in March 2005 as a free update which included support for connections with Breeze Server.
Contribute 3.11 was released November 2005 as a free update. Still available separately, CPS was updated to Contribute Publishing Server 1.11, which allowed administrators to manage web content from Contribute 3 as well as Dreamweaver 8.
After Adobe Systems' acquisition of Macromedia in December 2005,[2] it was succeeded by Adobe Contribute 4.[3]
Legacy activation[]
Adobe disabled the activation server for legacy Macromedia products on December 15, 2012.[4] Users who wish to activate Contribute 3 after this date will need to follow this procedure.
