FutureSplash Player is a vector-based animation plugin from FutureWave Software for Macintosh and Windows. The animation files could be authored with FutureSplash Animator and then played back within a browser with the runtime plugin.
FutureWave and its software were acquired by Macromedia in January 1997. FutureSplash became known as Macromedia Flash and the plugin became known as Macromedia Flash Player.[1]
