The project was initially called SoundVision, which was to have graphics, text, and sound capabilities. The media elements were timed by a "score" based on an early implementation of MIDI.[2] At the insistence of the publisher, the graphics features were split off and later became MacroMind VideoWorks.[1] The remaining music and audio application was renamed MusicWorks and distributed by Hayden Software.[3]
