Macromedia Afterburner was a utility Xtra that was included with early versions of Macromedia Director to generate Shockwave (DCR) files.
Product history[]
Afterburner was first released as part of a Shockwave for Director kit for Macromedia Director 4.0.4, the first version to support both Macintosh and Windows. It compressed Director files by up to 60% for faster downloadability.[1]
The Afterburner Xtra that was included with Macromedia Director 5 was the first to be PowerPC native. It was also the last separate release as the feature was built directly into Director 6.[2]
