Product history[]
- Macromedia Flash Lite 1 was created by Macromedia and first released in 2003 for NTT DoCoMo's i-mode devices. It later supported Symbian and gained early adoption by Japanese carriers.[1]
- Macromedia Flash Lite 2 was released on January 3, 2006 by Adobe Systems,[2] which had just acquired Macromedia in December 2005.[3] It added support for Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) 2006.[4]
- Adobe Flash Lite 3 was released on October 1, 2007 and added support for Windows Mobile 5.0.[5] Flash Lite had been installed and shipped in over 800 million mobile devices by September 11, 2008.[6]
- Adobe Flash Lite 4 was the final release and only supported a limited number of Symbian^3 devices.[7] Flash Lite had largely been superseded by Adobe AIR in 2010.
