Macromedia Flash Media Server, now known as Adobe Media Server, is server software originally created by Macromedia to deliver Flash media content to rich internet applications. It has since been updated to stream HD quality video with dynamic media encryption to desktop, home, and mobile devices.

The software began in 2002 as Macromedia Flash Communication Server MX and was renamed Macromedia Flash Media Server 2 with the announcement of the public beta in September 2005.[1] Macromedia and its product line were acquired by Adobe Systems in December 2005.[2]
