Macromedia HomeSite 5 box

Macromedia HomeSite 5 is the first version of the HomeSite HTML editing tool to released by Macromedia, after it had absorbed Allaire Corporation in a merger that was completed on March 20, 2001.[1]

HomeSite+[]

Macromedia HomeSite+ was a variant of HomeSite 5 that was included with Macromedia Dreamweaver MX. It included the functionality of ColdFusion Studio 5 for application development with Macromedia ColdFusion MX.[2][3]

Version 5.2[]

Macromedia HomeSite 5.2 was released in January 2003 as a free update. A version of HomeSite+ based on 5.2 fixed bugs and known issues from version 5.0.[4]

Version 5.5[]

Macromedia HomeSite 5.5 was released in September 2003. It was available as a paid upgrade, which was discounted only for HomeSite 4 or 5 users.[5] A version of HomeSite+ based on 5.5 was included with Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004 for development with Macromedia ColdFusion MX 6.1.

Discontinuation[]

Macromedia was acquired by Adobe Systems on December 5, 2005.[6] Adobe announced that development on HomeSite was being discontinued on May 26, 2009 and offered Adobe Dreamweaver CS4 as a substitute.[7] On March 22, 2010, Adobe introduced Adobe ColdFusion Builder as their new integrated development environment (IDE) for dedicated ColdFusion development.[8]
