
The 8th annual Macromedia International User Conference (UCON '97) was held October 8 to 10, 1997 by Macromedia at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. The theme was "Ignite the Web". It continued to be one of the industry's fastest-growing trade shows with year-to-year growth of over 40%.[1]

Keynote speakers on October 8 included Bud Colligan, chairman of Macromedia, and Jake Winebaum, president of Disney Online. On October 9, Steve Jobs, interim CEO of Apple Computer received a standing ovation when he presented QuickTime 3.0 and VR Authoring Studio.[1][2]
UCON 97
Macromedia Dreamweaver 1.0 was introduced at the conference.[3][4]
"Made With Macromedia People's Choice Awards" in 16 categories were awarded at the event for projects developed with Macromedia applications.[5]
