The 1999 Macromedia International User Conference (UCON '99) was held May 25 to 27, 1999 by Macromedia at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California. The theme was "Add Life to the Web".[1][2]

Tom Jermoluk, CEO of @Home Network and Marc Andreessen, CTO of America Online were originally scheduled to speak,[1] but the keynote address ended up being presented by Macromedia CEO Rob Burgess and president of products Norm Meyrowitz.[3] Macromedia Flash 4 and Shockmachine were announced the day before the conference on May 24 and launched during the following summer.[4][5]
22 finalists for the "Made With Macromedia People's Choice Awards" were presented in 16 categories for projects developed with Macromedia applications. Voting was held at the conference and the winners were announced on June 3, 1999.[6][7]
