The City and County of San Francisco, also known as SF, is a major municipal area in Northern California that is home to many technology companies, such as the Wikimedia Foundation and formerly, Macromedia.

Statistics[]

As of 2019, San Francisco is the 4th most populous city in the state of California and the 15th most populous city in the United States.[1]

Macromedia in San Francisco[]

In 1989, MacroMind relocated from Chicago, Illinois to 410 Townsend Street in San Francisco.[2] As the company grew into Macromedia, it acquired another office building at 625 Townsend Street. In January 2005, the company also moved next door into the historic Baker and Hamilton Building at 601 Townsend Street.[3] The facilities have since been occupied by Adobe, which acquired Macromedia in December 2005.[4][5] The Macromedia Flash development team was previously located at 600 Townsend Street, but that compound is now occupied by other technology companies.[6][7]
